At about 10:44pm Thursday night, Turlock Police responded to an aggravated assault that had just occurred at Staley’s Club in the 400 block of E. Main Street, where a man had thrown a bottle at the bartender.
Officers arrived on scene within two minutes of the call and contacted two subjects outside the business who matched the descriptions given. They were identified as Gerardo Iniguez, 31, of Modesto, and Arturo Quiros, 40, of Turlock.
Quiros told officers that his last name was spelled Quiroz and gave a date of birth with the same month and date, but eleven years off. With how similar the information was to his actual name and date of birth, dispatch was able to find his real identity.
Quiros was discovered to have two misdemeanor warrants. The first was a $13,000 local warrant of arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater, driving with a blood alcohol content of .01% or greater while on DUI probation, driving with a suspended license due to a DUI conviction, and possession of a controlled substance, while the second was a $50,000 bench warrant out of San Bernardino County for driving with a suspended license due to a DUI conviction, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater.
The victim refused prosecution, however, was able to confirm that Iniguez was who had thrown the bottle at him. Despite this, Iniguez was still too intoxicated and unable to care for himself.
Iniguez and Quiros were both arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, Iniguez on the charge of public intoxication and Quiros on his warrants.
