Two arrested after thorough investigation during traffic stop Monday evening

On Monday, May 22nd, 2023, at 7:14 pm, Turlock Police investigators near Vilas Parkside, 381 W Hawkeye Ave, Turlock, observed a man driving a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so they made a traffic stop on him.

The investigators made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver, who ended up not having a valid driver’s license.

While speaking with the driver, investigators noticed a man and a woman running through the apartment complex which they determined to be associated with the vehicle that they had stopped.

One of the investigators recognized the woman as Sonya Giron, 38, of Modesto, and had his dispatcher run her. He discovered that she had a $51,555 felony warrant out of Modesto for bringing or sending an alcoholic beverage or non-controlled substance or paraphernalia for such into a jail or prison.

Investigators also discovered that the vehicle they had stopped had been listed in a shoplifting incident that had occurred the day prior from Kohl’s. During that incident, a man had stolen over $1,800 worth of jeans and jerseys.

The man from the shoplifting incident matched the description of the man who had been seen running with Giron and the vehicle’s driver stated that his name was Will. Through history with Giron, he was able to be identified as William Fatke, 29, of Ceres. Investigators discovered that he was on searchable probation for grand theft, drawing or exhibiting a deadly weapon, and domestic violence inflicting corporal injury.

Eventually, investigators were able to catch up with Giron and Fatke in the apartment complex and arrested them.

Both were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, Giron on her warrant and Fatke on charges of grand theft and violation of probation.
