At about 6:58pm Friday, Turlock Police Officer Khounlivong made a traffic stop at N. Palm Street and Wayside Drive.
Khounlivong made contact with and identified the vehicle’s two occupants, driver Eduardo Carillo, 31, of Modesto, and a 17-year-old Hispanic boy.
As Khounlivong returned to the vehicle for a second time, he noticed a firearm in plain view in the front passenger seat door pocket.
Carillo and the boy were detained at gunpoint.
During a subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle, officers recovered an unserialized Taurus handgun, as well as a large-capacity magazine and narcotics.
Carillo and the boy were both arrested. Carillo was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a firearm that does not bear a valid serial number, possession of a controlled substance, and driving with a material affixed upon the windshield or windows, while the boy was booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on charges of carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a firearm that does not bear a valid serial number, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a handgun by a minor, and possession of ammunition by a minor.
