At about 10:17pm Thursday night, Turlock Police Officer Kauffman got out with a suspicious person at Spruce Street and Sunnyside Drive.

Kauffman recognized the man as Derek Gaspar, 34, of Turlock, someone who police regularly deal with. Also with Gaspar was a woman who identified herself as Theresa Willoughby, 51, of Turlock.

When Kauffman had his dispatcher run the two, he discovered that Gaspar was on probation for burglary while Willoughby had two bench warrants. The first was a $100,500 felony one out of Stanislaus County for buying or receiving a stolen vehicle, while the second was a $5,000 local misdemeanor one for possession of methamphetamines.

During a subsequent search of Gaspar, he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gaspar and Willoughby were both arrested. Gaspar was released on a citation on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, while Willoughby was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on her warrants.
