At about 10:30pm Monday night, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputy Ruezga got out with an occupied suspicious vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 5400 block of Rhode Road in Keyes that was registered out of the area.
Ruezga contacted the vehicle’s two occupants, a man and a woman. The man told Ruezga that he was in Keyes to buy a vehicle transmission from someone.
While speaking with the man, another man, later identified as Cory En, 26, of Modesto, exited the residence and walked towards Ruezga holding a handgun.
En was immediately detained in handcuffs.
A search warrant was obtained and served at the residence that En had come out of.
During the search, deputies located three pistols, two rifles, a shotgun, unassembled firearm parts, other firearm manufacturing items, controlled substance bottles, and drug paraphernalia.
The homeowner was identified as Johnny Espinoza, 49, of Keyes.
En and Espinoza were both arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, En on charges of carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a machine gun, and altering a firearm, and Espinoza on charges of possession of an assault weapon, and manufacturing or selling an assault weapon.
