Two arrested on warrants and narcotics charges during traffic stop early Sunday morning

On Sunday, May 28th, 2023, at 1:30 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of N Berkeley Ave and E Canal Dr, Turlock, observed a woman driving a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on her.

The officer made contact with and identified the vehicle’s two occupants, including passengers Juan Perez, 26, of Turlock, and Lace Chapman, 30, of Modesto.

When the officer had his dispatcher run the four, he discovered that three of them were on searchable probation. Perez also had a $30,500 local misdemeanor bench warrant for possession of methamphetamines and Chapman had a $20,000 misdemeanor bench warrant out of San Mateo for burglary and grand theft.

During a subsequent vehicle search, the officer located narcotics and paraphernalia.

Perez and Chapman were both arrested and released on citations on their warrants. Perez was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
