On Friday, February 3rd, 2023, at 12:40 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported suspicious person in the 3100 block of N Berkeley Ave, Turlock.
When officers arrived in the area, they were immediately contacted by two men who reported that they had just been carjacked.
The victims reported that they had just purchased food and were eating it in their vehicle, when a Black male and a Hispanic male approached, both armed with handguns. The Black male knocked on the driver’s window and ordered him out while holding a handgun. The driver complied and then the Hispanic male did the same to the passenger, who also complied. The two suspects then got into the vehicle and fled.
Inside the vehicle was one of the victim’s cell phones, which was tracked to and recovered in Delhi within an hour.
A few hours later, the vehicle itself was tracked to the 3000 block of W Kamm Ave in Caruthers and recovered with collision damage. It was towed back.
The only additional suspect information available was that they were wearing dark clothing and had masks covering their faces.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call Officer Hunter Gallup at 209-656-3151.
