Two drunk drivers arrested under similar circumstances in close proximity to each other within hour Friday night

On Friday, September 2nd, 2022, at 11:53 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a security check near the intersection of W Canal Dr and Lexington Ave, Turlock, after a vehicle had been seen parked in the westbound lane of W Canal Dr with people inside of it.

When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with the vehicle’s driver, and noticed that she was exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence. Ultimately, officers determined that she was under the influence of alcohol.

She was arrested and provided an evidentiary breath sample at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. The results of the breath sample revealed that she had a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater.

She was released on a citation on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater. She was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and her vehicle was impounded.

Her identity is currently unknown.

Less than an hour later, at 12:32 am, a Turlock Police sergeant near the intersection of N First St and Florence St came up on a vehicle parked facing southbound in the northbound lane of N First St.

The sergeant and an officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver, Michael Roy, 55, of Stockton, and noticed that he was exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence. Ultimately, they determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Roy was arrested and provided evidentiary breath sample at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. The results of the breath sample revealed that Roy had a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater. Roy was then transported to a local hospital at his request for a blood draw to provide as an additional sample.

Afterwards, Roy was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater. He was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and his vehicle was impounded.
