On Friday, April 29th, 2022, at 10:11 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Crane Ave and S Center St, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.
The officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver, Jose Ramirez, 43, of Modesto, and noticed that he was exhibiting signs of being under the influence, so he had him exit his vehicle.
The officer asked Ramirez to participate in standardized field sobriety tests, and he agreed. Based on Ramirez’s performance in the tests, the officer determined that he was indeed under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, a search of Ramirez’s vehicle incident to arrest led to the discovery of open alcohol containers.
Ramirez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, and possession of an open alcohol container in a vehicle. He was also issued a driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was impounded.
At 11:36 pm, a different Turlock Police officer near the intersection of E Olive Ave and N Center St also observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.
The officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver, Felipe Cardenastorres, 32, of Denair, and noticed that he was also exhibiting signs of being under the influence, so he had him exit his vehicle.
The officer asked Cardenastorres to participate in standardized field sobriety tests, and he agreed. Based on Cardenastorres’ performance in the tests, the officer determined that he too was also under the influence of alcohol.
Cardenastorres was arrested and released on a citation to a sober adult on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater. He was also issued a driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was impounded. It should be noted that Cardenastorres was a commercial driver who drives an 18 wheeler for work, or at least he used to before today.
