Two men were arrested last week after being kicked out of a Turlock bar, then allegedly returning with a handgun and bludgeoning a bar employee in the head repeatedly.
The Turlock Police Department first received a call of a disturbance involving a weapon at approximately 1:45 a.m. on April 26.
Daniel Medina, 29, and Josue Miller, 33, both of Turlock, allegedly created a disturbance inside the Almond Tree, a local bar and restaurant located in the 2200 block of Lander Ave. Both men were escorted out of the bar, according to Turlock Police.
Medina later returned to the bar and initiated a fight with one of the Almond Tree employees outside of the business. After seeing that Medina had a handgun with him, the employee went back inside. While the first employee was inside, Medina allegedly assaulted a second employee outside of the business.
During the conflict, police believe Medina pointed his handgun at the second employee and struck him alongside the head with it several times. The second employee suffered non-life threatening injuries to the head, and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Immediately after the incident, Medina fled the scene. A description of his vehicle was reported to the Turlock Police Department, and officers were able to locate Medina and his vehicle in the 1600 block of W. Main St. in Turlock.
A Turlock Police Officer conducted a normal traffic stop and arrested Medina for assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and assault and battery. Medina was booked with two felony charges and a misdemeanor.
His companion, Miller, was arrested for outstanding warrants not related to the incident. The handgun that Medina allegedly used to assault the second employee was not located by the Turlock Police Department.
