Two men arrested after obstructing officers investigating assault outside downtown bar early Sunday morning

On Sunday, August 28th, 2022, at 1:40 am, a Turlock Police officer near La Cantina, 142 S First St, Turlock, observed and got out with an assault and battery in progress in front of the business.

The fight involved two women, one of which had thrown a glass bottle at the other and caused cuts to her neck area.

The woman who had a glass bottle thrown at her was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital with minor injuries.

As officers were investigating the incident, they attempted to detain the woman who had thrown the glass bottle, however, were pulled away from her by bystanders.

Ultimately, no one involved in the original assault was arrested at the scene and the investigation remains on-going, however, two men were arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of obstructing or resisting a peace officer or other public officer, including one who had pulled officers away from the woman that they were attempting to detain. Both of their identities remain unknown.
