Two students returning from Volleyball game injured in vehicle collision Thursday night

On Thursday, August 26th, 2021, at 9:05 pm, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of W Christofferson Pkwy and Crowell Rd, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they located a single vehicle involved, which was a silver Ram pickup truck. The vehicle had at least two occupants, but possibly three. Of the two confirmed occupants, one suffered minor injuries and refused to be transported while the other suffered moderate injuries and was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital. If there was a third occupant, their extent of injuries remains unknown, however, they refused to be transported.

The two were both juveniles and were returning home from a Volleyball game at Pitman High School when the collision occurred. Their principal, Angela Freeman, as well as the school district’s Director of Student Services, Gil Ogden, were also returning home from the game when they came across the collision scene prior to responders’ arrival and stopped to help.

City crews responded to verify the integrity of the pole and its electrical components.

The involved vehicle sustained major damage and had to be towed away from the scene.

It is currently unknown how the collision occurred.
