Two suspicious fires occur within half an hour of each other Friday night

On Friday, November 27th, 2020, shortly before 11:30 pm, the Turlock Fire Department received a call of a dumpster fire behind Olde Tyme Pastries located at 2225 Geer Rd. Engine 33 was dispatched.

Engine 33 arrived on scene at approximately 11:35 pm. Captain 33 reported a fully involved dumpster fire not threatening any structures. Captain 33 assumed command and had his firefighter begin attack with their front bucket line. The fire was knocked down within a couple of minutes and put out shortly thereafter. Command was terminated and Engine 33 went clear and available.

While Engine 33 was battling the Old Tyme Pastries fire, a second fire came in at approximately 11:45 pm behind the vacant building previously occupied by In Shape located at 2710 Geer Rd. Engine 34 was dispatched. Engine 34 arrived on scene shortly after 11:50 pm. Captain 34 reported a mattress on fire up against the building. Captain 34 assumed command and had his firefighter begin attack with their front bucket line. The fire was knocked down within a couple of minutes and put out shortly thereafter. Command was terminated and Engine 34 went clear and available.

During fire attack at In Shape, high pressured water came into contact with the rear door of the business which caused a burglar alarm to activate. According to multiple social media posts, the alarm remained active until the late morning hours.
