The California Highway Patrol is no longer reporting the Highway 99 collision Tuesday morning as fatal.
At 9:50 a.m. Tuesday morning, CHP classified the northbound collision as fatal, but updated the status to a major injury collision at 11:40 a.m.
The collision was reported at 9:32 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 99, near Main Street in Turlock.
A pickup pulling a toy hauler overturned on the highway, while a big rig went over the embankment.
All lanes of northbound Highway 99 were closed following the collision, but CHP opened the No. 1 lane at approximately 10:15 a.m.
The other two lanes are expected to remain closed for “at least a few more hours,” according to CHP.
