UPDATE: Driver from Tuesday’s hit and run arrested, vehicle recovered, and victim identified Thursday morning

On Thursday, October 13th, 2022, at 5:00 pm, the Turlock Police Department came out with an update regarding the hit and run that had occurred on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, in the 2100 block of Fulkerth Rd, Turlock, which left an 83-year old man dead.

The Turlock Police Department announced the arrest of the responsible driver, the recovery of the involved vehicle, and the identity of the deceased victim.

At about 10:30 am, Armando Michael Arreola, 25, of Turlock, went to the Turlock Police Department to turn himself in as the responsible driver.

Arreola was interviewed by the Major Accident Investigation Team and the interview led to the discovery of the whereabouts of the involved vehicle. At the request of the Turlock Police Department, the Modesto Police Department responded to the 600 block of E Coolidge Ave, Modesto, and recovered the vehicle. It was taken to the Turlock Police Department where it will eventually be processed for evidence associated with the hit and run.

At the conclusion of the interview, Arreola was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of hit and run causing injury or death and manslaughter.

The deceased victim was identified as Santiago Estrada-Gonzalez, 83, of Delhi.

“The investigation into this incident is not over with the arrest of Arreola and the recovery of the involved vehicle,” said Turlock Police Acting Captain Russell Holeman. “The Traffic Safety Unit will be serving additional search warrants and will continue their work to gather evidence to solidify this investigation. We offer our sincere condolences to Santiago’s family during their time of loss,” he continued.
