On Friday, December 17th, 2021, at 1:00 pm, the Turlock Police Department came out with an update regarding the officer involved shooting that occurred on Thursday, December 16th, 2021 at the intersection of High St and Lane St, Turlock.

The Turlock Police Department announced that they had made a mistake and that there was only one shooter, Henry Moreno Arroyo, 40, of Turlock, who was arrested. The second shooter that they had been searching for all night is now believed to have never existed.

The Turlock Police Department also announced that Arroyo was struck by gunfire during the incident. He was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound. It is believed that the shot he was struck by was fired by California Highway Patrol investigators, however, that has not yet been confirmed as the investigation is still in its early stages.

An additional subject who was not believed to be the second shooter was also detained for a few hours last night. They were interviewed and later released.

It has now been confirmed that the California Highway Patrol was the only agency who had officers who fired their weapons.

The California Highway Patrol has not yet released the identity of their investigator who was shot, the identity of their investigators who fired their weapons, and the details of the shooting that they had originally been investigating.

At this time, there is no indication that anyone else involved in this incident is currently outstanding.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Detective Brandon Bertram at 209-664-7323.
