IMG_9740-1

At about 11:32pm Friday night, Turlock Police responded to a traffic hazard at W. Monte Vista Avenue and N. Golden State Boulevard, for a vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks.

When officers arrived on scene, they located the vehicle facing south just south of the railroad crossing. It was unoccupied.

Union Pacific Railroad was contacted and they advised that there was a train about six miles out. It was a southbound train that officers were able to see from the scene.

Officers set up flares and blocked the railroad crossing in case the train couldn’t stop in time, but Union Pacific got it stopped.

The vehicle was registered out of Merced and a driver’s license was located in the vehicle, however, it’s unclear if that was actually who was driving it.

The vehicle was towed away and the area was reopened for both train and vehicular traffic.
