On Friday, September 16th, 2022, at 2:06 am, the Turlock Fire Department, Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigations Unit, and Turlock Police Department were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire at a residence in the 800 block of Ashton Ct, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a black Cadillac coupe parked in a residence’s driveway with a fully involved passenger compartment fire.

As firefighters were setting up to begin fire attack, the fire extended up a tree right next to the vehicle. Firefighters began fire attack within seconds of that, immediately putting out the tree fire and putting out the vehicle fire shortly thereafter.

No injuries were reported.

Preliminary information from a witness indicated that the fire was intentionally set by a man who fled the area on foot, however, that and the origin of the fire have yet to be confirmed.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigations Unit at 209-525-5537.
