On Wednesday at about 6pm, the Turlock Police Department received calls that a pedestrian had just struck by a vehicle and was down in the roadway around the 1200 block of East Avenue.
Bystanders quickly came to aid and began life saving measures until police officers and medical aid arrived and took over.
Unfortunately, the victim, a 78 year old woman, despite best efforts from first responders, succumbed to her injuries on scene.
The driver remained on the scene of the incident and is being cooperative with this investigation.
Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this incident.
