Wanted man in stolen vehicle arrested after short pursuit Wednesday afternoon

On Wednesday, September 14th, 2022, at 3:34 pm, the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force was conducting surveillance on a stolen vehicle near the intersection of N Golden State Blvd and Geer Rd, Turlock, when it began driving southbound on N Golden State Blvd.

The vehicle was followed and the Turlock Police Department was requested to respond and attempt to make a stop.

When Turlock Police officers got behind the vehicle near the intersection of S First St and G St and attempted to stop it, it failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit went southbound on S First St, continued southbound on Golf Rd, and ended about a minute after it began when the driver stopped the vehicle near E Harding Rd.

A high risk stop was conducted and the vehicle’s two occupants were removed and detained at gunpoint, including driver Frank Martinez, 32, of Patterson.

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Martinez was in possession of ammunition and had two felony warrants, the first being a no bail one for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or person addicted to a narcotic and violation of post release community supervision, and the second being a $100,500 one for domestic violence inflicting corporal injury.

Martinez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, flight from a peace officer with disregard to public safety, flight from a peace officer against traffic, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, and violation of probation, as well as his warrants.

Martinez’s passenger was released.
