Warriors Advance to Regional Championships in NCAA Tournament

With victories last week, the No. 4 seed Cal State Stanislaus women’s soccer team has advanced to the sweet-16 of the NCAA tournament.

On Nov. 13, the Warriors earned their first win in the NCAA tournament in school history after a thrilling double overtime 2-1 victory over No. 5 Seattle Pacific University.

"I'm just so proud of the performance tonight. In very challenging conditions we battled a terrific opponent and came away with our first ncaa victory," Warriors head coach Gabriel Bolton told Warrior Athletics.

The victory advanced the Warriors to a second round matchup against the top-seed in the West, the Western Washington University Vikings, who were ranked 12th in the nation at the time.

In another close contest, the Warriors were able to come away with 1-0 victory over the Vikings on Saturday and advance to the West Region Championship.

"This team executed our game plan to perfection today. I told them they are advancing because they are the most coachable team I've ever coached," Bolton told Warrior Athletics following the victory.

Cal State Stanislaus will now face familiar foes in the No. 3 seed Cal Poly Pomona Broncos, who defeated Cal State Los Angeles 1-0 on Saturday.

Earlier this season, the Broncos defeated the Warriors 1-0 in Pomona. The Warriors will look to get revenge on Friday and advance to the elite-eight.

The Warriors and Broncos will face-off at 1:30 p.m. PST on Friday, Nov. 21 at the CSM Soccer Stadium in Golden, Colorado.
