Woman and two dogs die after fiery rollover collision Wednesday afternoon

On Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, at 3:15 pm, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with injuries in the 4200 block of W Linwood Ave, Turlock.

While crews were responding, they were advised that it was a rollover and that the vehicle involved was starting to catch fire.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a single vehicle involved, a gray 2007 Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle was on its side and was fully involved.

The vehicle had a single occupant, its driver, later identified as Brandi Kane, 40, of Turlock. Kane suffered major injuries and was air transported by PHI Air Medical Services to a local hospital. A short time after her arrival at the hospital, Kane became unresponsive and succumbed to her injuries.

After firefighters were able to put the fire out, they found a deceased dog. A second dog which was still alive was also found, however, had to be euthanized due to its injuries.

It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call Officer Michael Simbalenko at 209-668-6523.
