At about 10:54am Friday morning, Turlock Police responded to an aggravated assault in progress at Raley’s in the 2900 block of Geer Road.

When officers arrived on scene, they located security restraining a woman in the store.

The woman was detained and identified as Valerie Mayoral, 43, of Riverbank.

When officers had their dispatcher run Mayoral, they discovered she was on probation out of Merced County for trespassing.

Officers began investigating and spoke with a witness.

The witness stated that Mayoral had been causing a disturbance, so the security guard contacted her. Mayoral became aggressive and started to swing at the guard, eventually starting to make a stabbing motion, although the witness couldn’t see if Mayoral had anything in her hand. The guard then took Mayoral down and held her until officers could arrive on scene.

After officers spoke with the security guard, they learned that Mayoral had attempted to use a gel pen to stab him.

The security guard suffered an injury as a result of the incident.

Mayoral was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm and violation of probation.
