Woman arrested after leading police on unusually safe pursuit Thursday night

On Thursday, October 28th, 2021, at 9:40 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Golf Rd and E Harding Rd, Turlock, on-viewed a vehicle commit a violation of the California Vehicle Code. The officer got behind the vehicle and attempted to pull it over by activating his emergency lights, however, the driver, later identified as Sandra Diaz, 24, of Turlock, decided to not comply and continued southbound on Golf Rd.

The officer initiated a pursuit and chased Diaz southbound on Golf Link Rd, westbound on August Ave, and then southbound on Lander Ave. Eventually, as they approached First St, Diaz decided to stop. A high risk stop was conducted and Diaz was ordered to surrender at gunpoint. Diaz complied and was taken into custody without further incident.

The pursuit lasted approximately eight minutes and speeds stayed under 60 miles per hour for the most part. Diaz also made sure to stop at most red lights and stop signs.

A subsequent search of the vehicle incident to arrest led to the discovery of narcotics.

Diaz was arrested and released on a citation on charges of flight from a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance.

Her vehicle was towed away from the scene.
