At about 2:12pm Monday afternoon, Turlock Police responded to a shoplifting that had just occurred at Claire’s in the 3000 block of Countryside Drive.

The caller reported that a woman had walked out of the business with merchandise and when she asked her to come back in to pay, she returned yelling and pushing the caller, before leaving through the back door with the merchandise again.

The caller also stated that this was the second time this woman had done this.

Officers arrived in the area and received information that the woman had discarded the stolen property and run across the freeway.

Officers began checking the other side of the freeway and located the woman near the Goodwill in the 3000 block of N. Tegner Road.

The woman was contacted and identified as Alma Garcia, 38, of Turlock.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the incident was a robbery, not a shoplifting, because Garcia had pushed the caller.

Garcia was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of robbery.
