Woman arrested for dognapping Saturday night

On Saturday, April 30th, 2022, at 9:08 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported robbery that had just occurred at 76 DoubleTime, 101 N Tully Rd, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they met with the victim inside the business who stated that a woman had nicely approached him and asked to pet his dog. While doing so, she randomly snapped, struck him in the face three times causing an injury, and ran off with his dog.

Other officers checking the area found the woman still with the dog hanging out in the parking lot behind the business. She was detained in handcuffs to further investigate the incident. Her identity is currently unknown.

During the investigation, the woman told officers that she had rescued the dog from the victim because he was abusing him, however, those claims were determined to be unfounded.

The woman was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of robbery.

The dog was reunited with her owner.
