On Friday, June 17th, 2022, at 12:22 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported robbery at The Home Depot, 2800 Countryside Dr, Turlock.

Responding officers were given the suspect vehicle description and they checked the area, however, were unable to locate it.

Officers went to the business and were met by a loss prevention officer who told them that he had observed two female subjects attempting to conceal items. They were later identified as Augustina Chavez, 29, of Turlock, and Lacy Gibbons, 32, of Modesto. When he confronted the two as they were exiting the store, they began arguing with him. Eventually Chavez took a can of scorpion killer spray from nearby and sprayed it at the loss prevention officer’s face. This escalated the theft into a robbery. Gibbons then pushed him out of their way and they fled in their vehicle

The loss prevention officer was able to wipe the spray from his face before it caused injury to him.

The following day, at 7:09 pm, members of the Turlock Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit located the suspect vehicle unoccupied. They determined that Gibbons was the registered owner and they called her to respond to it. When Gibbons arrived, they arrested her. Investigators then called Chavez and spoke to her on the phone, however, she refused to turn herself in.

Gibbons was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of robbery and conspiracy.

Chavez is currently wanted on the same charges.
