On Sunday, December 13th, 2020, at approximately 12:55 pm, the Turlock Police Department received a call of a residential burglary in progress in the 1800 block of Valparaiso Dr. The homeowner was home when they saw someone in their backyard and then heard sounds of someone attempting to break into their garage.

The homeowner exited from the front of the house and called police and a neighbor. The neighbor went into the backyard in an attempt to locate the suspect, however, was unable to locate them. The neighbor then went into the garage armed with a bat and located the suspect hiding in one of the vehicles in it. The neighbor held the suspect until police could arrive.

When officers arrived, they took Gisele Hernandez, 22, of Turlock into custody. Hernandez originally gave officers a fake name to cover the fact that she had warrants out for her arrest, however, her real identity was later recovered. Hernandez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of burglary, burglary during a state of emergency, attempted auto theft, resisting a peace officer, providing false identification to a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, probation violation, and the outstanding warrants.
