Woman driving against traffic at normal speeds arrested for DUI early Saturday morning

On Saturday, September 10th, 2022, at 3:37 am, a Stanislaus State Police officer near the intersection of Geer Rd and W Tuolumne Rd, Turlock, observed a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes at about thirty miles per hour, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver, Baylee Vance, 25, of Turlock, and noticed that she was exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence, so he removed her from the vehicle.

The officer then asked Vance if she would be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests, which she agreed to and did.

Ultimately, based on the objective symptoms that Vance was exhibiting, her performance in the standardized field sobriety tests, the fact that she was driving against traffic at normal speeds, her statements, and the totality of the circumstances, the officer determined that Vance was under the influence of alcohol.

Vance was arrested and provided an evidentiary breath sample at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. The results of the breath sample revealed that Vance had a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater.

Vance was released on a citation on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater. She was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and her vehicle was impounded.
