Woman shot at Turlock motel New Years night

On Friday, January 1st, 2021, at approximately 1:20 am, the Turlock Police Department received a call of a shooting that had just occurred at the Venice Motel located at 1114 N Golden State Blvd. Turlock Police officers were dispatched along with American Medical Response and the Turlock Fire Department with Engine 31.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a victim in a room who was suffering from a gunshot wound. When paramedics and firefighters began, the patient was immediately loaded onto the ambulance and transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The suspect fled from the scene prior to police arrival.

Detectives with the Investigations Unit were called out. Detectives authored and executed a search warrant at an unknown location. During the investigation, detectives were able to identifty the suspect, Samuel Martinez, who is also known as Samuel Leinweber, 23, of Turlock.

On January 5th, Martinez was located and arrested without further incident. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on three counts of aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and violation of parole.
