On Friday, April 28th, 2023, at 6:33 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported trespass in progress at Pitman High School, 2525 W Christoffersen Pkwy, Turlock, where a woman in front of the front office was refusing to leave and becoming belligerent with staff.

When officers arrived on scene, the woman, later identified as Lakiesha Barkus, 38, of Palo Alto, briefly left, however, returned back onto campus from a different spot.

When officers contacted Barkus for a second time and attempted to place her in handcuffs, she became resistive. Barkus was eventually able to be handcuffed after a short struggle.

Barkus was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of failing to leave or reentering a school campus within seven days of being directed to leave and obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty.
