On Saturday, December 4th, 2021, at 2:00 pm, a Turlock Police officer in the 1500 block of Countryside Dr, Turlock, on-viewed a vehicle violate a section of the California Vehicle Code.

The officer made a traffic stop and got out with the vehicle’s driver, later identified as Barbara Cypress, 43, of Turlock.

The officer ran a records check on Cypress which revealed that she had a warrant out for her arrest for failing to surrender.

Cypress was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on her warrant.

The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred on Friday, March 8th, 2019, at 3:00 pm. Cypress had gone to pick up her daughter, age 13 at the time, from the school bus stop at Columbia Park, 600 Columbia St, when she grabbed ahold of another student, age 12 at the time, and encouraged her daughter to hit her.

A bystander recorded the incident on her cellphone and the video went viral.

One of the girls had been bullying the other and the two were in an argument on the school bus, which is what led to Cypress encouraging her daughter to hit the other girl.

Cypress was arrested a week after the incident occurred, however, she was released on bond. She went to court, was convicted, and was sentenced to serve 120 days in county jail, however, was given some time to get things together before beginning that sentence. When it was time to surrender, she did not show up and had been on the run ever since.

Cypress’s daughter was also arrested at the time, however, due to her being a juvenile at the time, the disposition of her case is sealed and remains unknown.
