On Thursday, May 25th, 2023, at 1:05 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported found person at Avena Bella Apartments, 500 W Linwood Ave, Turlock, after the caller had located a toddler standing in the roadway in front of the apartment complex.

When officers arrived on scene, they contacted the caller who was standing by with the toddler. The caller stated that no one had come out yet looking for her.

Officers began investigating and ultimately discovered where the toddler lived within the apartment complex.

Officers contacted the toddler’s mother, Karrina Aguilar, 26, of Turlock, at her apartment and identified her. They discovered that she had a $3,000 misdemeanor bench warrant for obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty and a $95,000 felony bench warrant out of Kings County for conspiracy, bringing or sending a controlled substance or paraphernalia for such into a jail or prison, transporting methamphetamines between noncontiguous counties, and selling or furnishing a controlled substance to a person held in custody at a jail or prison.

Due to the circumstances, officers conducted a security check of the apartment and found it to be unsuitable for the toddler due to its condition.

Aguilar was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of child abuse or endangerment under circumstances likely to produce great bodily harm or death, as well as her warrants.

The Stanislaus County Community Services Agency’s Child & Family Services Division was also made aware of the incident and they responded to the scene. It’s unclear at this point whether or not took custody of the toddler.
