Young Woman Escapes Attempted Kidnapping on Highway 99 in Turlock

An 18-year-old female was assaulted and nearly abducted while walking on the right shoulder of Highway 99 south of Monte Vista Avenue in Turlock on Wednesday.

While walking along the shoulder of the highway, the victim was approached by Aden H. Aden, a 22-year-old male, who pulled up beside the woman and asked her if she needed a ride. The woman told Aden that she did not need a ride and was okay walking. She continued walking along the shoulder when Aden grabbed her, and proceeded to choke and hit her.

Aden then forced the woman into his vehicle, a 2007 Nissan Altima that was reported stolen outside of Tempe, Ariz. After forcing the woman into his vehicle, Aden walked around his vehicle to the driver’s side door. While he was walking around the vehicle, the woman was able to exit the vehicle and began running southbound on the shoulder of Highway 99.

Aden caught up to the woman, grabbed her purse and began choking her again. At this time, a California Highway Patrol officer arrived on scene.

After seeing the officer arrive, Aden fled to his vehicle. The woman told the officer what had happened, and joined officer in his patrol vehicle. The officer then detained Aden.

Aden complied with the officer's commands and was arrested without incident once backup arrived on scene.

Aden was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of auto theft, kidnapping, battery and robbery. Aden’s bail is set at $100,000.
