27th Annual Spring Juried Art Show
Receiving Dates: February 27, noon-5 p.m. & February 28, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Exhibition Dates: March 6 – April 30, 2009
Turlock - The Turlock City Arts Commission announces a Call for Entries for the 27th Annual Spring Juried Art Show at the City Gallery, located inside Turlock City Hall. A showcase for works by artists living and working in our region, the exhibition will draw a large audience during its eight-week run. Eligible artists may enter one or two pieces of original work created within the past two years. Artwork must be hand delivered to the City Gallery, at 156 S. Broadway in Turlock, on Friday, February 27th from noon-5 p.m., or Saturday, February 28th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The entry fee is $8 per piece for Rings of the Arts members and $15 per piece for non-members. Entry forms will be available at the City Gallery during receiving hours or by contacting the Turlock City Arts Commission office, 668-5599, x4615.
Jurors for this year’s Spring Show will be Deanna Horvath, Penny Otwell, and James Deitz. Horvath is a photography instructor at Las Positas College in Livermore. She works in traditional photographic techniques, digital photography and video. Otwell lives in El Portal and shows her work locally at First Street Frame Co. & Gallery. She is well-known for bold colors and textured surfaces in her paintings, many depicting landscapes of the Yosemite region. Deitz is a visiting faculty member in art at California State University, Stanislaus, this year. A painter from the Seattle area, he has been featured in numerous of exhibitions throughout the Pacific Northwest. His work spans traditional and more contemporary styles.
Prizes, sponsored by local businesses, will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place and Honorable Mention in each of the following categories: Acrylic & Oil, 3-Dimensional, Watercolor, Mixed Media, Drawing & Graphics, and Photography. A public reception will be held on Thursday, April 30th from 6-8 p.m., with the presentation of awards at 7:30 p.m.

· The receiving, exhibition and reception will be held at the City Gallery, inside Turlock City Hall, at 156 S. Broadway in Turlock.
· The City Gallery is regularly open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and some evenings during public meetings. The Gallery is closed on holidays.
· The City Gallery is wheelchair accessible; admission is free and open to the public
