Advisory: Gas Leak Near E. Main and Canal, Residents Asked to Shelter Themselves

Residents within a four block radius of E. Main Street and Canal Drive are asked to shelter themselves due to a large natural gas leak.

PG&E is currently on scene attempting to control the gas leak and several road closures are in place in the area.

The Turlock Fire Department, who is assisting, has advised residents stay out of the area and businesses within a four block radius of E. Main Street and Canal Drive stay inside, close all doors and windows, and turn off AC units until further notice.

Businesses in the area have been notified of the gas leak, according to the Turlock Fire Department.

Motorists should use alternate routes, as Canal Drive is closed between Olive Avenue and E. Main Street, as well as surrounding roads.

The Turlock Police Department and Turlock Irrigation District are also on scene assisting.

The cause of the gas leak is unknown at this time.
