Private citizens aren't the only ones who take vacation at Christmas time.
Many local government offices will close for the holidays, and Turlock's garbage pick-up schedule will change during Christmas week.
All non-emergency City of Turlock services will be closed from Dec. 23 through Jan. 2. Police, fire and water services will remain on duty. For more information, call 209-668-5540.
The Turlock Irrigation District will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. In addition, TID will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Personnel will respond to outages should they arise on those days. For more information, call 209-883-8222.
Turlock Scavenger will also bump back their service schedule for the Christmas holiday. Scavenger will service the normal Wednesday route on Thursday Dec. 26, the Thursday route on Friday, and the Friday route on Saturday. For more information, call 209-668-7274.
