Common Core on TUSD Agenda

The Turlock Unified School District will hold a Board of Trustees meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, with Common Core Implementation once again taking center stage.

At about 7:18 p.m., TUSD Educational Services will make an informational presentation on the district’s Common Core Implementation Plan, as well as information on TUSD inter-district agreements and the total number of students transferring into and out of TUSD schools.

The meeting is scheduled to kick off with inspirations from Brown Elementary School students Juliette Hernandez and Matthew Brown, who are this month’s Character Counts award recipients for the character trait of citizenship.

A recognition ceremony will honor outgoing Trustee Josh Bernard and Pitman High School students, who will be receiving the County’s Seal of Multi-lingual proficiency on their diplomas and transcripts.

On the consent calendar the board will adopt a resolution to designate November as Sikh-American month in line with the State Assembly and Senate.

Later, at 7:40 p.m., the board will vote to solicit qualifications and proposals for consultant services to perform screening and energy audits for Proposition 39 funding.

The District is eligible to receive a total of $642,086 in Fiscal Year 2013-2014. The District will be required by the guidelines to prepare energy audits, perform energy screening and submit an expenditure plan to qualify for the Proposition 39 funds. A portion of the funds, 30 percent ($192,626), may be requested by the District to perform the audits and develop an expenditure plan.

The TUSD Board of Trustees will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Professional Development Center at Crane School, 1100 Cahill Ave.
