Congressman Jeff Denham will make a town hall appearance, in person, after three months since President Donald Trump was sworn into office.
Local elected leaders of the community will be heading to the Larsa Banquet Hall for the Government Night Town Hall.
Constituents have been asking about Congressman Denham’s vote on repealing Obamacare since the vote was postponed, and then later cancelled, Denham didn’t end up revealing how he was going to vote.
Also a topic for the majority of our area is illegal immigration. From local law enforcement to federal laws with enforcement, what will local leaders advocate?
Denham will most likely be asked about if he believes President Trump’s tax returns should be released or subpoenaed, along with national topics such as war, budgets, and trade.
Taxes (specifically the historic huge California state gas tax hike), jobs, the economy, public safety, and such could be discussed by local officials.
Along with Congressman Denham, State Assemblyman Heath Flora, Stanislaus County Supervisor Vito Chiesa, and Turlock Mayor Gary Soiseth will be fielding questions at the town hall.
The Government Night Town Hall is asking people to register for the event, and it already has 850 seats registered. The idea behind registration is to make sure that there are enough seats reserved for the constituents.
“The whole idea is that it doesn’t get overwhelmed with people from the outside that are coming in to beat pots and pans. We really want to hear from locals to talk about local issues,” said Mayor Gary Soiseth at the Stanislaus State One on One with Mayor on Apr. 5.

Those who participate in the RSVP registration system will be able to check-in to the town hall earlier than those who had not. Advanced RSVP registrants will be able to check-in at 5 p.m. and constituents who didn’t will check-in at 5:30 p.m.
While the check-in times may differ, both are encouraged to come early in order to get the best seat possible. Seating that would be reserved for those who are elderly or who have disabilities will be released to others by 6:15 p.m.
Be prepared to have proof of residency at the door. Students of Modesto Junior College and California State University Stanislaus need only show their student ID card.
Those who are non-constituents will be allowed in once constituents have been accommodated and as space allows.
No signs will be admitted into the building, and no backpacks, oversized bags, or packages will be allowed inside. Purses of reasonable size will be allowed.
This town hall is expected to begin at 6 p.m. on Apr. 17 at the Larsa Banquet Hall, located at 2107 East Monte Vista Avenue, in Denair.
