CSU Stanislaus Literary Magazine’s Art, Poetry to Be Featured in Turlock City Hall

A new partnership between California State University, Stanislaus and the City of Turlock will bring art and poetry selected by university students to Turlock City Hall.

“We’re really excited about the partnership,” said Erik Schulze, Turlock Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities Supervisor.

The affiliation will hang artwork from Penumbra, an annual art and literary journal produced by CSU Stanislaus students, in the City Hall Gallery .

Some students with poetry featured in the journal will also attend the May 13 City Council meeting, where they will read their work. The students will be honored with a reception at that time.

Penumbra has been produced by CSU Stanislaus students since 1990. Students with a junior or higher standing enroll in a specific course to edit, design, and produce the magazine.

The magazine itself is filled with submissions of poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and artwork from the community at large; affiliation with the University is not required. The submission deadline was Feb. 1 this year.
