Many unexpected issues face new teachers entering the field.

Luckily, California State University, Stanislaus is offering the 17th Annual Transition from Student to Teacher Conference, providing valuable information for new teachers, teacher interns, and paraprofessionals.

The conference, scheduled for Feb. 23, drew over 250 new and prospective teachers last year. This year is expected to be “bigger and better,” focusing on both college and high school pathways to teaching.

The high school component highlights the necessary steps to get into college and succeed in a teacher preparation program. Participating presenters are university faculty and area education specialists.

CSU Stanislaus faculty and program specialists, school district personnel, support services professionals and experts from the educational community will provide information on topics such as:

– CSU Stanislaus Campus Tour
– Pursuing a Fulfilling Career in Teaching
– CSU Stanislaus ASI, Clubs and Organizations
– Pathways to Becoming a Teacher
– Testing
– True Colors – Personalities in the Classroom
– First Year Experience
– Support Services and Resources for Students
– CLUB Ed – Campus Based Future Teacher
– Math and Science Teacher Panel
– Teacher Panel – What to Expect in College and Classroom

The conference will include workshops, breakout sessions, motivational speakers, freebies, raffles and giveaways, a continental breakfast, and a full lunch.

Registration closes Feb. 8 and can be completed online.

The conference will begin at 8 a.m., Feb. 23, in the Main Dining Hall at CSU Stanislaus.
