It’s 50 years of one of America’s favorite frozen drinks! 7-Eleven’s Slurpee has turned 50, and, to celebrate its birthday, aka Free Slurpee Day, stop by the 7-Eleven today to get a free Slurpee.

Turlock Irrigation District’s Canal Drive Weather Station is predicting a high 93 degrees today, and an ice cold drink can be great way to recharge from the summer heat.

According to a press release from 7-Eleven, participating stores will be giving away approximately 9 million free small Slurpee® drinks from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. while their supplies last.

“Every year, 7‑Eleven Day gives us an opportunity to have some fun, say thank-you to our customers and celebrate our birthday Slurpee style,” said Laura Gordon, 7‑Eleven vice president of marketing and brand innovation.

However, the celebration doesn’t stop at the end of the day. 50 years of Slurpee is a big deal to 7-Eleven, and they will be celebrating with a “once-in-50-year” offer.

Customers who purchase 7 Slurpee drinks from July 12 to 18 and scan the 7-Eleven mobile app will receive 11 slurpee drinks for free.

The offer will appear automatically in the “Scan and Save” section of the 7-Eleven mobile app 24 hours after you purchase the 7th drink. These coupon are time sensitive, and they must be redeemed by Aug. 31.

“This year is a big birthday for Slurpee, and a big year. One day, even one week, isn’t enough so we began celebrating in January and plan to keep it up until the end of the year.”

7‑Eleven will also be introducing a Birthday Cake Slurpee flavor for its birthday.

The flavor joins other recently released flavors such as Sour Patch Redberry and other favorites such as Wild Cherry and Coca-Cola. 7-Eleven will also have other favorites in store such as birthday donuts, lollipops, cotton candy, marshmallow pop, candy straws, Pop-tarts, and much more. However, these selections may vary by store.

Free slurpees are available today! Check out one of Turlock’s 7-Eleven stores and get some reprieve from the summer heat. Turlock residents can find a local 7-Eleven at 445 Lander Avenue; 3420 West Monte Vista Avenue, where there will be pony rides from 3 to 7, a bounce house, and raffles; and at 2500 Geer Road, which will have $1 hot dogs and a Monster energy drink truck.
