KCSS 91.9 FM, the student-run radio station on the California State University, Stanislaus campus, has released their first compilation album, “Take 1,” which is now available for purchase. The album was released in conjunction with the annual KCSS Bandstand, which featured 17 bands from are performing at the Grizzly Rock Café on May 9.
Last week, U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) presented local Korean War Veteran Edwin Gene Benedix with a Purple Heart medal for his service in the U.S. Army. The Purple Heart is awarded to U.S. Armed Services members who, while serving in any capacity after April 5, 1917, have been wounded or killed in battle.
Turlock’s federal, state, and local representatives will come together on May 7 for the Fourth Annual Government Night, allowing constituents to a chance to ask officials key questions in a town hall-style setting. Stanislaus County Supervisor Vito Chiesa, who represents Turlock in District 2, is organizing the event.
Christmas comes hand-in-hand with throngs of last-minute shoppers as well as anyone and everyone who still needs to run errands this time of year. In terms of grocery stores, Safeway (Countryside Drive) will be open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. They do not have hours available on Christmas Day, but have offered their Modesto store on McHenry Avenue as a substitute, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Costco (Tegner Road) will also be open Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
