Kaepernick Star of Madden TV Ads

He may not have made the cover of “Madden NFL 25,” but San Francisco 49ers quarterback and Pitman High graduate Colin Kaepernick is the face of the videogame's advertising campaign.

Two advertisements for the videogame, released Sunday and Monday, put Kap front and center.

The first, entitled “Play Calling,” (see video below) has Kaepernick attempting to become more than just a “top-tier QB with super sick moves,” instead turning his focus to “rad play calling.”

The advertisement highlights the game's voice-activated play calling feature, available on the Microsoft Xbox version of “Madden NFL 25” with the Kinect voice sensor. Though the feature may lead to “excessive Kaepernicking,” the ad notes.

The second ad, “Summer Camp,” (see video below) tells the fictional tale of Kaepernick meeting Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson as a child visiting a summer camp. The two become “Madden” rivals, and go on to become quarterbacks only so they can beat each other in the videogame while playing as each other.

“All their years of hard work have led up to this moment,” the narrator says. “Man versus man. Videogame man versus videogame man.”

Kaepernick officially hit the virtual turf yesterday, as the “Madden” videogame was released Tuesday.

Kaepernick is unlikely to take the actual field again until 1:25 p.m. Sept. 8, when the 49ers face the Green Bay Packers to open their season. The 49ers will play their final preseason game at 7 p.m. Thursday against the San Diego Chargers, though starting players rarely see action in the final preseason game.

Kap had a rough start to preseason game three, played against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, going 1-5 passing for 4 yards on his first two drives. But on the third drive, Kaepernick went 6-8 passing for 68 yards, capping the possession with a 5 yard touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Quinton Patton.
