Love Turlock This Weekend, Volunteer Spots Still Available for Many Projects

TurlockCityNews.com

Although Love Turlock is right around the corner on May 2, there’s still some time to sign-up for one of the several community projects still looking for additional volunteers.

Love Turlock began in 2011, after the success of Love Modesto, which started in 2009. While Turlock also had their own smaller version of the service project, formerly called Servolution, offered through New Life Christian Center, Pastor Dave Larson said that he wanted to expand the project into the community so that others who did not attend New Life could participate as well.

Since 2011, thousands of volunteers have dedicated hours to loving Turlock through construction projects, trash cleanup, or even just baking cookies.

Some of this year’s projects that still need volunteers include members for a food distribution and delivery team, a team to help make repairs to an older Turlock home, and several trash collecting projects.

Love Turlock will kick-off at 7:30 a.m. May 2 at the the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. Around 8 a.m., volunteers will depart to their projects and begin loving Turlock.

After the completion of the projects, around noon, there will be a free BBQ lunch at the fairgrounds.
