This morning at approximately 1:05am, a pedestrian was struck by a 2008 Ford F250 in the intersection of Lander Avenue and E. Glenwood Avenue in Turlock, according to Turlock Police.
The driver of the Ford was a 27-year-old male from Turlock, CA. He told police that he was driving southbound on Lander Ave. and had a green light. The pedestrian walked directly in front of him.
An independent witness confirmed that the driver had a green light and the pedestrian had a red light. The witness also confirmed the vehicle was travelling at or under the speed limit of 40 mph.
After striking the pedestrian, the driver stopped his truck and ran back to render aid. The pedestrian was alert and complaining of leg pain.
He was transported to Doctor’s Hospital in Modesto by ambulance.
Approximately six hours later, Turlock Police Department was notified that the pedestrian had died at Doctor’s Hospital by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.
The Coroner has conducted an autopsy, but his final report and toxicology tests were not available at the time of this press release. There was no evidence that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The name of the deceased pedestrian is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
