A food service trailer stolen from Turlock's R.A.M. Farms Pumpkin Patch, soon to host the city's first ice skating rink, has been recovered.

But it's in bad shape, Ron Macedo, owner of R.A.M. Farms Pumpkin Patch and the Fields of Ice skating rink, said.

“It turned back up, completely stripped-out,” Macedo said.

The 15-foot food and drink trailer was stolen between 5:30 and 9 p.m. Nov. 7 from the R.A.M. Farms Pumpkin Patch, 716 N. Daubenberger Rd. The trailer's value was estimated at $20,000, including equipment inside.

The trailer was found last week behind an abandoned home southwest of Turlock, Macedo said, hidden in a cornfield.

Snacks and sundries were sold from the trailer throughout the pumpkin patch's fall run, and the Macedos had planned to use the trailer at their upcoming Fields of Ice skating rink. Unfortunately, getting the trailer back in working order would take weeks or months – far more time than the Macedos have, given the ice skating rink's impending opening.

“I have rented another one that should be here Monday,” Macedo said.

The rented food service trailer will allow Fields of Ice to serve snacks and drinks during ice skating sessions, scheduled to start Friday.

That's right – the grand opening of Turlock's first ice skating rink is now less than a week away. Workers were on-site Friday, wrapping up construction of the temporary skating rink.

“We're getting really close now, so everyone's getting excited,” Macedo said.
