Scheduled Road Work Notice

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 24, 2009, involving the construction of the slurry seal of various streets as listed below (33 locations).

A slurry seal is a mixture of oil and crushed aggregate (rock) that is a cost effective maintenance activity that is used to resurface and extend the life of existing streets. Once applied, it takes about 3 to 5 hours for the slurry to set up and be ready for traffic. The finished product will not be perfectly smooth due to the crushed rock and the application process, but will improve with traffic and time. Approximately one week after the slurry seal has been applied, new traffic legends and striping will be installed.

The project will start with the removal of existing pavement legends and striping on Monte Vista Avenue between Highway 99 and N. Golden State Boulevard, Countryside Drive, North of Monte Vista Avenue, Hotel Drive and Entertainment Way. Traffic control measures will be in effect and traffic delays are expected during this time period.

After this portion of work is complete, the contractor will move operations into the remaining areas of work. This work is expected to be completed by Friday, August 28, 2009, barring any unforeseen complications.

The work will take place between 7:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. each day.
