“Spin City,” “The Real World: Sydney” TV Stars to Speak at CSU Stanislaus

TURLOCKTV show stars Michael Boatman of “Spin City” fame and “The Real World: Sydney” reality show headliner Parisa Montazaran will speak at California State University, Stanislaus during separate programs on Monday, April 27 and Thursday, April 30.
 
Sponsored by the University Student Union, the events are free and open to the public. Boatman will talk in the Main Stage Theatre of the Drama Building on April 27 about life in the entertainment field, and Parisa will address cultural stereotypes and life as a Muslim after 9/11 in the Event Center on April 30. Both programs start at 8 p.m.
 
Known for his starring roles in the situation comedies “Spin City” with Michael J. Fox and “Arli$$” with Robert Wuhl, and now writing short stories and novels, Boatman will conduct a question and answer session with the audience moderated by CSU Stanislaus Theatre Professor John Mayer. Boatman will also do some readings from his short stories and novels and discuss them with the audience.
 
Montazaran, an Iranian-American raised by devoted Muslim parents, will talk about discrimination and diversity topics, with particular focus on cultural issues and stereotypes. A cast member in “The Real World: Sydney,” now in its 20th season, Montazaran has a reputation for not being afraid to speak her mind about her views on a variety of issues.
