Traffic Advisory: Pedestrian Hit, Killed Crossing Geer Road

The Turlock Police Department is currently investigating a collision that claimed the life of a male pedestrian who was crossing Geer Road on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services responded at approximately 1:05 p.m. on Thursday on the report of a collision near the Geer Road and Minnesota Avenue intersection.

A male pedestrian, who has not been identified at this time, was crossing Geer Road traveling westbound, said Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.

An 83-year-old female driver was traveling westbound on Minnesota Avenue in a Toyota Camry and made a right-hand turn on northbound Geer Road, hitting the pedestrian, said Webb..

The pedestrian, who has been declared deceased, was not in the crosswalk while crossing, said Webb.

According to Webb, the victim’s identity is not being released at this time, but is believed to be an elderly male.

Following the collision, the driver pulled over and reported the incident.

The Turlock Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the fatal collision.

Northbound Geer Road is currently closed between Tuolumne Road and Minnesota Avenue, as well as traffic in both directions on Minnesota Avenue. The Turlock Police Department is advising drivers to use alternate routes.
